Family of Four at Playa Azul Baler

Our family travels officially started when Sophia was 15 months old. It was a breezy December afternoon when we went to Cagwait, Surigao del Sur. It was our water baby's first time to step on the sand! And it was so funny I can still picture out her face until now. Definitely one of my most memorable moments as a mom. That's when I realized vacationing with a baby is more fun. Fast forward to now that my firstborn's a certified beach babe, we are on a mission to be in all accessible Luzon beaches. Our trip to Hundred Islands in Pangasinan will always remain a favorite. I hope to never repeat the experience we had in a not so beautiful resort in Bataan. Potipot and Magalawa Islands in Zambales are beaches to beat. Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte, which I need to write about soon, wasn't as exciting as I hoped it'd be.

Well, we still have a lot of beaches to go to but I got pregnant last year so we only managed to go to Dingalan, Aurora for a much-needed vitamin sea for Sophia. Now that I have two mermaids (the smaller one showing signs of water lovin' when she's at her tub), I am more excited to vacay with my now family of four! So kilig to write four, hihi.

Choosing Baler for this year's summer vacation took some time. The waves gave me doubts. But after reading some legit blog reviews, I found myself booking one of the topnotch hotels in Baler. The place has inns and transients that are reasonably priced but we decided to splurge a bit for lodging since summer only comes once a year.

I booked via booking.com and paid Php 4,800 for a beachfront room with two double-sized beds. I was looking forward to seeing the sun peak through the bedroom window. Unfortunately, 6am is too late for Mr. Sun. Anyway, let me share with you our thoughts about the hotel.

WHAT WE LIKED:
  • The ambience of the whole place is pleasing. Minimalism and the beach are a perfect combination. The white walls with blue trimmings look fresh. Love the paintings, too.
  • We appreciate having the faucet area by the entrance. A lot of beach hotels don't have that.
  • The staff looked presentable and are well-mannered.

WHAT CAN BE IMPROVED:
  • NO WI-FI and NO INTERNET SIGNAL (for our own data usage) in the rooms. That's the reason why I wasn't able to share our vacay in my IG Stories. Sure, it didn't kill me but my blogger self was sad, of course. Also, I think it's bad for the biz. They should have that fixed asap.
  • Their very sad plated breakfast. We expected buffet for the price we paid. Contrary to the reviews posted in Trip Advisor, the food was not what we thought it will be.
  • There were some crevices in the bathroom that needed scrubbing.
  • The bedroom somehow smelled like wet sand upon entering. I mean, we went to the beach to swim but not to actually feel like sleeping on it, haha. Also, the bed smelled like fabcon. It isn't really a bad thing but the smell is too familiar I didn't feel like I was in a hotel. Do you get what I mean?

Will we go back? Yes! But not that soon. Maybe when Sammy is old enough to swim and I'm light enough to try surfing.

  2. We planned to go here the first time you posted pics on facebook. Nagka-conflict lang sa work schedule. Pero itutuloy pa din namin, we'll stay here before we go to Dinalungan, Aurora. Pero sana may swimming pool sila, no? actually gusto ko yung rooms nila. Nag-canvass ako online and check the amenities of other resorts there, nag standout talaga to! Kung may pool lang, perfect na. :)
