Tita D at PUP

PUP means Polytechnic University of the Philippines. It is where I finished my college degree some years ago. It is where I found friends, where I first had my heart broken badly, where I realized how emotionally strong I can be. In a nutshell, it might not have the cleanest wash rooms or the classrooms may be too steamy for people, it's still one of my most favorite places in the world. So when a PUP student invited me to talk to them about Internet Etiquette, around the time my #baonserye posts were trending and despite my busy schedule as a work-at-home mompreneur, I prepared for it wholeheartedly.

At first, I actually didn't know how I'd start my presentation. What do these kids do not know about the Internet? What do I actually want them to always remember once they leave the university? How should I talk to them? Those questions I answered myself after going through the comments on my page. Some youngsters there called me Tita D. That's when I decided my brand will be a millennial aunt educating the new generation about using the interwebs.

The talk happened few days before I turned 32; it was the best birthday gift I received from the universe! I felt so kilig upon entering the campus I considered my second home for four years. Oh, how I missed my sintang paaralan. I remembered a looooot of memories - good and bad.

When I arrived, I was surprised to see Tita Noemi Dado. She was also invited to speak. I learned from her that bloggers, even regular netizens, must care about their *digital footprint*. Say, try Googling your name and check the results if it's something that can make or break your reputation in the industry where you are trying to build yourself up. When it was finally my turn, it was as if I had my switch on to happy-happy, joy-joy mode. And so the gabfest began albeit having no sleep at all, haha. What's new, anyway?

After a few minutes of chika, I had to bid goodbye to the kids who listened, laughed and interacted with me. I felt fulfilled for helping them with their class project. I kind of felt sorry, though that this post came too late. Sorry naman, got so busy with errthang eh. But to Hennessy, Mark and all Art y Facts members - thank you for inviting your Tita D. I'm so excited for all of you to graduate and become the best in whatever you want to be IRL.
