A Mom's Life: 43/48

I'm not sure about you, my dear readers, but I guess most mom bloggers in my circle know who my 43rd AML royalty is. She is ze Fancy Girl! She designed most of the well-read mom blogs here in the country. I have yet to set aside a budget but I'd soon have this cyber palace fancy-fied! I'm sure that with the help of her magic wand, errr -- mouse (?), she can turn this site from drab to fab. Meet the creative genius behind Fancy Girl Design Studio, Patrticia Alix-Villa.

NAME: Patricia Alix-Villa

AGE: 42

CHILDREN, AGE: Vito (8 1/2), Raoul (3 1/2)

OCCUPATION: Graphic and Web Designer, but I’m really a Psychologist by training :)

FAVORITE OUTFIT: My go-to outfit: a shirtdress with sandals, or jeans and a nice top with ballet flats or wedges. And pearls; I never go out without mypearls.

MUST-HAVE BEAUTY COSMETIC: I never go out without these: SKII Facial Treatment Essence + Sunscreen SPF50+ Face Shop BB Cream. At my age, these are absolutely essential! :) My other essentials: MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder, NARS Orgasm blush, Maybelline Hypersharp Liner, ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo, Crabtree & Evelyn Vanilla Creme Brûlée Lip Butter, Lancome Juicy Tubes lipgloss, Elizabeth Arden lipstick in Cranberry Cream.

HOBBIES: reading, calligraphy, painting (acrylics and watercolour), baking goodies for my sons, rearranging the furniture. :)

CURRENT READ/WATCH: I read more than one book at a time. Right now, I have Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett and Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg on my reading chair.

FAVORITE DOMESTIC DUTY: I love to organise and decorate our home, and I also love to cook. That’s about it. :)

Queen B says: You may check her fanciful posts on Instagram through these hashtags: #fancygirlhome, #fancygirleats and #fancygirlkitchen. To know more about these fancygrams, read her post about it here.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Magazine subscriptions on my iPad (I subscribe to Town & Country, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, and Real Simple) and shopping forhome stuff.

PET PEEVE: Ah, where to start? :) People who impose their own beliefs on others; online shopping sites that don’t accept Paypal or credit card payments (seriously!); a messy home, stupidity, & incompetence.

Queen B says: Ooh, pushy people! They're most moms' pet peeve, methinks. Haha!

2013 GOAL: My goals this year were to blog seriously, lose weight, and develop a better business strategy. The blogging thing I wasn’t able to do much, but I’m halfway thru my weight loss goal (I only started a couple of months ago), and the business thing is going well.

DREAM FOR YOUR BOYS:
I will borrow a line from another mommy blog: My dream is for them go grow up to be well read, well bred, and well fed. :) I think a love for reading is essential - no matter what you want to be in life. It can open up infinite worlds for you, expand your views, and make you a better conversationalist. I take my boys to the library regularly (we have really nice libraries here in Singapore), and we also buy them loads of books. I also want them to grow to be gentlemen who know how to behave, to treat people with kindness and respect, to live with purpose, and be willing to work for their dreams. And yes, I want them to be healthy and willing to try any cuisine. I’m proud to say that both of them have very adventurous palettes. I can take them to any restaurant and not worry about whether they will eat the food or not. :)

Or the bible version - In everything, give thanks. Whichever. :) I prefer to keep a grateful attitude and to see the good in everything. I’m much happier because of it.

Queen B says: First, your house is so beautiful I always check your Instagram for a new #fancygirlhome post! It's a definitely one of my homespirations. Second, thanks to Martine I knew about you. Now I know who to ask to do her magic on my blah-designed blog. Hihi. Lastly, thank you for gracing my cyber palace! You truly are a blog royalty. Cheers! ♔
