Nanaygosyante of 2013: February

Somebody asked me why I feature entrepreneurs and online stores in this blog as much as I share my life as a mom. Simple: to inspire. I believe that in order for you to be the person you want to be, you have to surround yourself with positive influence. And what's more positive than featuring them here, right? I do not have entrepreneur-friends so nobody could nudge me into going and taking a risk to open up my own biz. Yes momma, one of my many goals is to be a full-fledged mompreneur. I want to manage my own time so I could still be a wife and mom; but also earn money for our small family. My husband's salary could be enough, but it's always better to have extra. I would really be so happy to be the woman mentioned in Proverbs 31:16.

For this month's Nanaygosyante, I will unfold a story of a woman of God who chose to do what she really wanted, while completely being in-charge of taking care of her 10-month-old bouncing baby boy. Joy dela Fuente-Mendoza, the owner of Joyful Events Consulting, is married to his business partner, Raymond --- a youth pastor at Marikina Fundamental Baptist Bible Church (MFBBC). Raymond, having previously worked at the Center for Pop Philippines as a vocal coach, helps Joy in scouting for clients. Her husband also makes sure to attend to their son's needs, whenever she has to make client calls. And since Joy is a mommy with no nanny for 9 months already, they tag along Cadence with them during date nights! She doesn't complain as their growing little man is a happy baby --- always smiling, laughing and screaming in glee.

In Joy's own words, you will see that she clearly prioritizes her son above anything else, apart from God and her husband. She doesn't accept any work as long as Cadence needs her; that she wishes to stay in love with Raymond as long as they can, so that their son could see how his parents truly love each other.

Our Nanaygosyante of the Month also never forgets to give time for herself by going to her favorite coffee shop for a quick caffeine fix (I miss doing that, in fairness!), or watching movies --- such as at home when their bubbly tot's already sleeping.

Joyful Events Consulting offers events planning and coordination, supplier sourcing and souvenirs. Joy aims  to handle 3-5 weddings this year, and that would just be a reality if she could also fulfill her other goal in aggressively marketing her services. I guess she would reach these in no time as she has strong faith to our Big Boss up there, surrendering her family's life to Him so they could be stronger Christians.

  1. Bilib din ako sa mga mompreneurs. Sa pag balance ng time, effort na talaga. I also agree to have our own ME time, in my case, coffee rin. Kahit sa bahay or sa labas, importante ma relax tayo para happy rin mga kids. =)

  2. I'd love to be a mompreneur too someday. Kaso scaredy cat din ako sa pag enter ng business. Pag hindi pumick up, nakakastress! I salute WAHMs and mompreneurs :)

    1. thanks sis. :) Scared din ako kasi nga when things don’t go as we plan, wala tayong ibang masisisi kundi mga sarili natin. But then, if we’re passionate about what we’re doing, madapa man tayo nang ilang beses, we’ll find ways para bumangon ulit.  itong business ko, ilang beses nang natigil (because of different factors such as 1.) ectopic pregnancy na talagang nag-down sa akin; and 2) super difficult pregnancy which required me to take complete bed rest for several months. Pero by God’s grace and blessings, may mga dumarating pa ring opportunities for me. :)

  6. I also have a business in mind pero nagdadalawang isip pa rin ako, although my husband already gave me his go signal (to be my initial financer). I guess kakaririn ko muna yun mga writing jobs ko na thankfully eh nagagawi sa linya ko:) Most moms yata eh coffee talaga ang takbuhan para makapag relax. Good luck to Mommy Joy and her husband sa kanilang business ^_^

  8. wow I admit that I envy your profession I know how hard it is to handle events that's why i'd rather hired someone to do it for me, more events to come

  9. I love crafting and I hope I can earn a little out of it. SOmehow it makes me stress free. I hoep I can do it soon. I salute moms like you. I know how hard it is to do that. Balancing chores, being a mom and wife is no easy job. Plus you have to be an accountant and mompreneur. Cheers to you!
