Sophia's Kite

I never remembered flying a kite when I was a child. MIL told me R did when they were in Bicol. I asked him about it but he said it was not the real tugatog ng paglipad moment. It was more of "run, little R, run" than the kite flying with colors. So when we scheduled this provincial tour, I made a mental note that my sweet girl should fly a kite. I want her to experience those little things that can really make a great impact to her childhood. As much as I want to shield her from the harmful UV rays of haring araw, it would cause such trouble to explain to her the importance of sunblock. Buti na lang kikay siya - she personally asked for her pink shades and has automatically looked for where there is a shaded area. Thank heavens the weather cooperated. It was definitely a perfect day for flying a kite!

My husband is not the jack-of-all-trades kind of guy, neither a handy daddy.

But because he's currently the father of around 200+ military men, he asked his troops to make his princess a kite. And the troops did. They even made one for themselves. Nakakatuwa!
Grabeng busy.
We were sleeping pa when I heard happy howling wolves. Yun pala, nagpapalipad ng saranggola. Simple pleasures. Astig yun.

Sophia's first kite-flying attempt was an epic failure. But her smile and pagkandirit sa ligaya proved that wrong.

A few minutes after the attack of  the strong wind was the time she decided to go outside and fly it. Meaning, wala ng hangin. Nagpahinga na. So tinakbo takbo niya pa din at feel na feel niya. I can't explain how happy I was for my little girl.

The next day, wala pang hila-hilamos at nakapantulog pa, nagpalipad kaming muli habang bonggang-bongga ang hangin. That was the first time I ever saw a real kite in my face na lumilipad. Lalo na when I saw Sophia actually flying it!

  11. Nice! Your provincial tour turned out bongga sa happiness. At ang LB nakapink shades pa while kite flying. :) Naalala ko tuloy, 23 years ago when i was just 7, kami ng sis ko walang ka-glamour glamour na nagpapalipad ng saranggola sa may palayan. Kami ay parang putikang itik. Hihihi!

  12. Haven't experienced flying a kite as a child. I was always the spectator when my older brother was flying kite with his friends.

  13. I've never tried kite flying before, I was such a girly girl then and never really participated in outdoor activities like these, I'd much rather read a book or sleep in. :P

Now that I am a mom, I want my kids to experience everything I never did, kite flying included. :)

    Sophia is adorable. :D
