Review: Celestina & Co.

I only had one original Barbie doll when I was a kid. I used to have like 4 or 5 dolls from Uniwide Sales (Haha! 90s) but this one from Mattel, Inc. was my favorite. My childhood friend Ikay gave it to me. I wonder where she is right now? Her family manufactures fancy jewelries that can be bought in SM department stores. I never got her full name as I was a careless 7-year-old. Really careless that when I turned 12, thought myself as a full-pledged dalaga, gave all my dolls including that one & only original Barbie to my younger cousins. If I only knew I will have a daughter, I should have kept my toys. Well, at least I made some souls happy. And who cares about that one from Mattel, Inc.! I now have a live Barbie doll. ;)

Sophia Monique is my pint-sized super model. Dressing her up is a privilege. Though when she turned 3, she kept on insisting to wear what she picked. Trust me, her mix & matching was kind of out of this world; but at least she has her own sense of style at such a young age. Now that she's 4, it's a lot easier as long as it's something girly, sometimes floral & mostly pink. Well, she came from a kikay womb. What can we expect? ;)

The only problem is her hairstyle. This is so humiliating. I have a mommy confession to make. I can't do braids --- the one that sticks to the scalp. Sigh. Of course, I can do the easy kind but it looks lame. I might try doing the "fishtail" when Sophia's hair gets longer, but I'm afraid it'll just tangle up. Ugh, what an awful feeling. That's why I keep her hair in medium length so I won't get too frustrated because I can't do anything with her long hair, aside from the boring-super-usual pigtails. These overrated pigtails hairstyle is my last resort especially when it gets too humid to just let her hair laid down. But on usual school days, I love putting cute colorful clips and headbands to her straight & shiny hair. Until I came across Celestina & Co., I suddenly had a change of heart in styling Sophia's hair.

Celestina & Co. has the most beautiful creations, ever. Their designs are unique & very chic. Because I'm always after the mabango look when dressing up my little girl, a Celestina & Co. hair accessory is a perfect choice. I'm really lucky to receive three lovely pieces from them, which my daughter could try on. The owner, Ethel Cuerpo-Bernales, sent us Rio Trio Crimson Burst, Brittany Sage and Signature Large Bow Headband

The Brittany Sage first caught my eye as it was the biggest in the box. I love the color combination, too. It's just so dainty. The yellow Signature Large Bow Headband matches her uniform! But the Rio Trio Crimson Burst is Sophia's favorite among the three. She wears it even at home.

I worry about how long these elastic bands would last. You know, no matter how girly my daughter can be, she's still a kid. I think by the time I will purchase their new designs, I will choose the ones in alligator clip as it stays flat on her head even when she moves around. The slim elastic band of the Rio Trio easily slips off from her head once she jumps or runs. The Signature Large Bow Headband goes to her eyes or her nose when she bows down. Well, it is an advantage for me as I want her to behave and a ct like a little lady. Haha!

Nevertheless, Celestina & Co. is my best bet among all the hair accessories stores I see online. It may be priced a bit more than the competing stores, but it's definitely worth it. Their materials do not look like it came from a plastic set of flowers in a vase. And I am not exaggerating as I have seen a lot of hair accessories in my 4 years of nanayhood. You buy and wear accessories to simply make you beautiful and not to look like a water lily in the murky river. This is chic with quality. It can instantly prettify any dull outfit. ♥

  2. Oh she's the cutest even with her effortless hair. In that age hair can be laid down all the time and still looks cute. Yes, headbands and bows can simply accentuate the look too.

  8. Yay, worry not about not knowing how to do the braids, LOL. I didn't know it is that shameful for a mother like us not to know how, hahaha. But either way your little princess looks just as adorable.
